Well, I wrapped up the Oregon version of the MSF course today in the damp fog, and while I aced the written test, I only barely passed the skills test; that dinged-up Honda CB125 was nearly too much bike for an uncoordinated 46-year-old bozo like myself. I can't imagine have taken that course with a 650. However, as I had never ridden before in my life, I still learned a lot, and will now be able to wander around the dealer lots sitting on bikes with a more critical eye. I suppose a few Sunday afternoons spent practicing slow-look-lean-roll and push left to go left in a deserted school parking lot and a couple of rides in the country and I'll feel a lot more confident. But I'll admit that I'm thinking more along the lines of Virago 250 or GS250 and less Savage than before I took the class. I suppose everyone goes through this when they get started. But how brand new riders can start off with a Harley is nearly unimaginable, or maybe I'm just WAY LESS coordinated than everyone else -- a very distinct possibility. Sorry to wander here.
